If you plan to dry your bouquet, it is best to pick stems that have half the buds unopened. This will minimize shedding. To dry, arrange a small bunch of lavender and tie with a rubber band. Hang in a dark, warm room with adequate air circulation. Your bunch may be dry in as little as one week. Dried bunches will keep for many years but will loose their scent after one season. Be aware that some of the best lavenders for drying (especially ‘Betty’s Blue’ and’ Royal Velvet’ bloom in June so plan your picking date accordingly.
